Dorline O. Wonciar

October 10, 1928 — July 17, 2021

Dorline O. Wonciar, born to Anthony and Mamie Larkin on October 10, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, has joined them, along with her brother, Donald Larkin, on July 17, 2021. She was a military spouse for over 15 years, travelling to U.S. Air Force bases around the United States and overseas. Retired for many years, she spent time working for Texas A&M University at the El Paso County Extension Office, creating many programs for local youth including the Youth Western Art Show with the Southwest International Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the Pumpkin Festival, where she appeared as the Pumpkin Lady in many different costumes. She also was part of the Sun County Regional Science Fair and was instrumental in obtaining scholarship awards from the military branches and Ivy League Universities. She was a member of the El Paso County Fair Association, UTEP Women’s Auxiliary, El Paso Commission for Women, Women’s Club of El Paso, Discover El Paso, Tristate Guild of the Santa Fe Opera, International Association for Visual Arts, Pro Musica. She was active in the local Democratic Party, and served as Precinct Chair and presidential delegate and a member of the League of Women Voters. She was a member of the Fort Bliss Restoration Advisory Board and helped push for the preservation of Caster Range. She was also a member of AARP Clubs, Salvation Army, El Paso Cactus and Rock Club, Skyline Garden Club, Northeast El Paso Civic Association, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She is survived by her four children Roxanne Varela, David Wonciar, Brian Wonciar (Allison) and Rachel Wonciar), two grandchildren; Virginia Proffitt(Shane) and Elanor Zunich (Alan0; three great-grandchildren(Madeline, Katlyn and Erica Proffitt). Donations in her name can be made to the Salvation Army. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 4:00pm with a Prayer Service to begin at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home – Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Please visit her online memorial at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net
