Edna L. Overton was born on January 10, 1941, in Florence, Alabama, and grew up in East Saint Louis, Illinois. She married her love, Edwin, on June 14, 1956. She will be fondly remembered for her quiet, mild manner and her loving spirit of giving. As a loving wife and mother, she cared for her husband and their 12 children for nearly 65 years. She was a wonderful example of the capable woman described at Proverbs 31. Many will never forget Edna masterfully sewing clothes for herself and all of her children. She always had everyone ready for meetings and service, and she always supported Edwin in theocratic, household, and secular responsibilities.
Edna loved the truths she learned from God's Word. She was baptized in June of 1968 in symbol of her dedication to her God, Jehovah. Her joy came from teaching her children and many others about Jehovah. It is that dedication and love for God that Edna worked hard to maintain. Down to the end, she was a glowing example of strength, faith, and loyalty. She was sure of her hope to live in God's new world on a paradise earth with her family and friends.
Edna is survived by her husband, Edwin, and their children Deborah Rose, Judy Poke, Edwin Overton, Jr., Tony Overton, Andre Overton, Edna Overton,
Raymond Overton, Valerie Parks, Naomi Garcia, Lucinda Ward, Joanna Overton, and David Overton; 26 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Memorial Service will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 526 Homsley Trail, El Paso, Texas 79907 at 3:00 PM, Thursday, February 6, 2020.
