Ellen E. Rhey

Ellen E. Rhey, 87, passed away on Tuesday Oct. 9, 2018. Ellen E. Rhey was born June 16, 1931 in Berlin, Germany where she stayed until after the war. She left to Oxford, England where she became a nurse. She moved to El Paso, TX in 1959 where she met the love of her life William J. Rhey. Ellen was known for her generosity and outgoing spirit. She would always greet customers at Hollywood & Vine in Bassett Center Mall with a smile. Many people would come to visit her there just for the enjoyment of being around her. She also became known as the "beanie baby lady". She would always give a beanie baby to people she liked in restaurants and elsewhere to put a smile on their face. Ellen was a avid collector of plush toys and other collectibles as well as books. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling and would make friends everywhere she went. Elen is preceded in death by her husband William J. Rhey. She leaves behind her son Gregory Rhey; nephew Stephen Schuetz and wife Soraya. Ellen and her bright and shiny smile will surely be missed.
