Gary Reed Barton, 81, passed away on Saturday January 20, 2018 at his daughter’s house with family by his side. Gary was born on January 18, 1937 to Walter Reed and Edna Barton in Endicott, New York. Gary joined the United States Army in 1958 and retired in 1978 as an E-7. He enjoyed his military career as a M.P. He earned a basic MSL badge, National Defense Service Metal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Metal (Korea) Good conduct Medal 6th Award. He then married Alicia (Alice) Lara Barton in 1971. Gary worked for Cashway, Ponca Wholesale, and then found his liking at the West Texas Supervision and Corrections Department as a Correctional Office where he retired in 2008. He loved to Bowl and was on a league on Thursday Nights at Fort Bliss Bowling Alley, he loved to Golf, and Read a lot of books, he spend most of his time with family, friends and his grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Walter Reed and Edna Barton along with his step-mom B.A. and first wife Lilian Barton. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years Alicia (Alice) Barton, Brother Larry Barton (Chris), Sisters; Colleen Mihalko, Penny Barton-Williams along with Brother-in-laws Armando Lara (Socorro), Agustine Lara (Belem), and Roberto Lara (Eve). Sons; Gary JR (Kathy), Alan (Jennifer) Daughters Lorie (Anthony) and Angela (Danny Medina). Grandchildren; Gary Jo, Reed, Dustin (Victoria), Kendell, Sydney, Savannah Bustamante (Kelly), Kayla Del Palacio (Arturo), Justice Barton and Marissa Medina. Great Grandchildren; Cheyenne, Naomi, Charlice, Jeremiah, Anthony, Damani, and Jaziah.

A very special thank you to Jose who always made my dad smile and Noel his Nurse that was always there for the family when in need of questions and being compassionate to my dad.
Gathering of Remembrance will be from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a Funeral Service to begin at 12:00pm on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will follow at 1:30pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
