George Ira Leeser

January 24, 1951 — December 24, 2020

George Ira Leeser was born on January 24, 1951 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was the first-born child of seven to Arthur and Roberta Leeser. At the age of 16 he was sent to live with his uncle, Norman, in Los Angeles where he learned English. His family then relocated to El Paso a year later where George was a proud graduate of the Coronado High School Class of 1969. He earned his Bachelors in accounting and small business from UTEP 4 years later. In 1979, he met and married Colleen Wieland Leeser and they had 2 children that were the pride and joy of George’s life. He worked for over 30 years in the automobile sales and finance industry. He was highly self-motivated and his care and compassion towards others coupled with his tireless work ethic pushed him to the top of every endeavor. He won many awards and was #1 in sales for countless years. In addition, he was also deeply rooted in the Jewish community and taught at Temple Mount Sinai. He was also an active part of the El Paso community and sought opportunities to radiate his love and generosity towards everyone he encountered. He taught us, by example, to live every moment to the fullest and cherished his friends and family. He was a loved member of the LGBTQ community. He leaves behind his soulmate, Danny Chavez who he met in 2018 and married earlier this year. He is preceded in death in by his parents Arthur Leonard Leeser and Rhoberta Lakehomer Leeser, his sister Nannette Leeser. In addition to Danny, he is survived by his children Craig Leeser (Shelley Beatrice) of Savannah and Courtney Luna (Shrillia) of Mckinney. George was very fond of his grandchildren Griffin and Noraleigh Luna. He is also survived by his siblings Rose Hall of Oregon, Bonny Stevens (Scott), Oscar Leeser (Lisa), Arthur Leeser (Jimmy) of California, and Lailah Leeser (Robyn). He will be greatly loved and missed by all who knew him. Services will be held privately by his loving family. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
