It is with a heavy heart we inform you that Gilbert Magdaleno passed away on August 29th, 2018. He was born in East Chicago, IN on November 11th, 1956. He went to school in El Paso, TX. He started his career as a truck driver at the age of 16 where he worked with his father, Braulio Magdaleno, and ended his career working for Landstar. Gilbert loved planting vegetables and had his own home-grown garden with a “state-of-the-art sprinkler system” that he built himself. Gilbert had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and son. To know him was to love him. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Yolanda Magdaleno; his two daughters, Josephine and Nancy Magdaleno; his son-in-law Gabriel Mendoza and soon-to-be son-in-law Kirk Nichols Jr.; his mother, Amelia Magdaleno; his sisters, Josefina Font, Lourdes Magdaleno, Angelina Bryan; his brother, Arturo Magdaleno, many nieces and nephews, family, friends, and his loyal dog, Indy whom he shared many a laugh and meal with. He is preceded in death by his dad, Braulio Magdaleno.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 03, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00pm on Tuesday, September 04, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana Drive. Committal Service to follow at 1:30pm at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd.
