Herlinda Bonilla Hutchins

Herlinda Bonilla Hutchins, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in El Paso, Texas. It brings great comfort to know she is having a grand and joyous reunion with treasured family and friends beyond the veil. Linda was born 16 May 1935 in Tornillo, TX to Esperanza de la Cruz and Aureliano Barron Bonilla. Growing up she spent summers in Mexico visiting family and lived in Monticello, CA for a time. She graduated from Tornillo High School, where she was active in sports and was the 1950 Football Queen. She worked for the Pacific Tel + Tel Co in California and later the Mountain States T+ T Co in El Paso. She married Norman Joseph Hutchins on 11 May 1957 in Belton, TX, their marriage was solemnized in the Mesa, AZ LDS temple 2 May 1978. Their five children were born and raised in El Paso. They retired and moved to Fairview, UT in 1992. After Norman passed away in 2010, she was welcomed at each of her children’s homes for extended visits where she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Linda loved playing card games, she was the family historian and organized many family reunions. Linda was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she served faithfully in many church callings, most notably in the Ward and Stake Young Women’s organization. She along with Norman served a Church Service Mission, the Moroni Dry Pack Cannery Mission (Mt. Pleasant Utah Stake) from July 1999 to November 2001. She also received recognition for volunteer service: 2008 The President’s Volunteer Service award, and the Fairview Shining Star award 2010. Linda is survived by her children: Diana J. Lott (Virgil), Escondido, CA; Norman L. Hutchins (Ronda), Mesa, AZ; Melody H. Sanchez (German), El Paso, TX; Brenda L. Wall (Steven), Salt Lake City, UT; Paul O. Hutchins (Crystal), Lake Port, CA; 23 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; her brothers Elias Bonilla (Jane predeceased), Mario Bonilla (Sandy), her sister Yolanda Werner (Roger); in-laws Robert Hutchins (Cheryl), John Hutchins and Jackie Spilsbury (Max) and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman, her sister Rosa Alma Allen, and her brother Alberto Bonilla. A viewing will be held from 4:00 - 9:00 pm, Monday, December 3, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina, El Paso, TX. The Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1212 Sumac, El Paso, TX. Burial at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery to follow.
