John Joseph Vion III, 61, of El Paso, Texas, went home to his Lord peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018, surrounded by his loving family after a long and hard-fought battle against cancer.
John was a strong, thoughtful man of quiet wisdom, always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who asked. John was intensely loving and proud of his family and fathered with a fierce love and protective spirit.
Proud of his time as an Air Force F-4 Crew Chief, he encouraged his family to serve. A diesel mechanic by training, John worked hard all his life, providing for a large, loving family. He retired from Union Pacific as a road machinist in 2015.
In his spare time John loved being with his many children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. A Connecticut native, he fell in love with the West and made it his home.
John is survived by wife, Martha; mother, Florence Smith; father, John Vion; sister, Denise Neumaier; children, Marisela, Chava, Luis, Connie, Lorenzo, Georgina, Denise, Danielle and Diane; 21 grandchildren; 8 greatgrandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends.
