Leonard E. Walters (Walt), passed away October 21, 2021. He went to be with the Lord. It is with a heavy heart, but a joyful one, that we celebrate the life he lived. Walt was born July 18, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Josephine C. Mikulic and Alfred E. Walters. He is survived by his wife Janet of 47 years, sons Artie, Mike, daughter Tina, grandson Michael, Stephanie (wife), great grandchildren Andrew, Michael, Luke, and Adelle. Walt also cared for and mentored many young men and women throughout his life that he considered part of his extended family. Walt retired Army sergeant first class. He had an Associate degree in electrical engineering from University of Maryland. He was Co-owner of Barwal Imports and owner of Walters’ Imports Limited, which he operated for several decades, restoring antique and foreign cars. He was very well respected as an expert in the automotive field. He loved animals, especially his pet dogs. Not by choice, Walt’s very first job at 14, was milking cows by hand on his grandmother’s dairy farm. He will be missed by family and friends. Walt loved people and had an impact in their life. A very special thank you to Hospice El Paso and Hospice Center for Compassionate Care Center. Walt was treated with kindness, dignity, and respect, a comfort for the family. The family requests instead of cards and flowers, donations be made in memory of Leonard Walters to Sun City Christian Center AG, 4000 Hercules Ave. El Paso, TX 79904. His philosophy, “I wake up in the morning and thank God for the gifts that I have and hope that I get through the day.” A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.
