Leslie Louise Curiel

August 26, 1947 — November 13, 2020

Leslie Louise Curiel (born Leslie Louise Adams on August 26, 1947) passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020 at age 73. She was preceded in death by her parents Marjorie Louise Adams and Leslie Camp Adams and by her brother Mark Henry Adams. Leslie is survived by her two sisters, Juanita Leigh Abbott of Colorado and Marjorie Lynn Walsh of North Carolina. She is also survived by her daughters Cynthia Anne Retzer (Jack Retzer) of El Paso, Deborah Louise Bond (Joerg Bond), and her son George Irving Bailey (Clarissa Bailey) of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. Leslie had seven grandchildren Samantha Bond, Jacob Retzer, Nicole Edwards. Courtney Retzer, Ashley Bond, Aidan Bailey-Gonzalez, and Ethan Bailey-Gonzalez and two great-grandchildren Mina Retzer and Diantha Retzer. Leslie was a lifelong resident of El Paso and a 1965 graduate of Austin High School and received her bachelor’s degrees in Education and Spanish soon thereafter at Texas Western College (UTEP). She spent over 30 years in the classroom teaching at various schools in the El Paso Independent School District. The bulk of her teaching career was spent teaching high school Spanish where she was known as Mrs. Bailey, Ms. B. or simply “Miss”. She loved to be in the classroom and thrived off of the energy of the kids she taught every day. After retiring from the classroom, she spent the bulk of her time with her grandchildren, getting together with friends, and a lot of time volunteering for local Optimist Clubs where she received many accolades for her service to the community. Leslie was ever the free spirt. She loved and identified with butterflies for that very reason that butterflies could flutter around everywhere and not have a care in the world. We know she is off fluttering around heaven and getting to know everyone and having a great time catching up with all of the loved ones who are already there. A celebration of life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast on December 1, 2020 from 1pm-4pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her honor to the El Paso ISD Education Foundation that aids in the education of the children of El Paso. https://54306.thankyou4caring.org/episd-education-foundation-donation-page We love you and miss you Ma!
