Marcia Rishton Gotchy Meister

April 8, 1932 — November 20, 2018

Marcia Rishton Gotchy Meister, 86, passed away in El Paso, Texas on November 20, 2018. Marcia was born April 8, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rex LT Gotchy and Catherine Rishton. Marcia married William Jan Meister Jr on May 16th, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was raised in Utah, Colorado & California graduating from East High School in Salt Lake City and attending some college classes at the University of Utah. Marcia was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities, but she had a special affinity for the programs for teenagers and children of the Church. She looked for ways daily to give service to those around her. Marcia enjoyed all phases of her life—first as a working girl before she married, then as a full-time mother and homemaker. As her children became older, she returned to the workforce as a real estate agent, which she enjoyed until she and her husband, Bill, retired and moved to Elephant Butte Lake. There they were able to enjoy their passion for boating and water sports. After Bill passed away, she returned to El Paso, where she enjoyed renewing old friendships and creating new ones. She never met a stranger. In her last years, she volunteered at many places. She especially enjoyed making and donating quilts and blankets to the Linus Project, along with a group of volunteers from her church. Marcia is survived by her children, Jan and Christine Meister, Lindon, Utah; Shelly & Michael Mullen of El Paso; Dianne & Greg Anderson of Sandy, Utah; Suzanne Drennan of Odessa, Texas; Steven Meister of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Chadd & Jessica Meister of Scott AFB, Illinois; and Stephanie Meister of Atlanta, Georgia. Marcia’s siblings are An Holbrook of Bountiful, Utah; Patyra & Floyd Astin of Salt Lake City, Utah; Cathe Ray of Grantsville, Utah; and Rex Asel Gotchy of Rockport, Texas. Her family includes 21 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 11:45am with a celebration of life service at 12 noon on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1212 Sumac. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery East.
