Margaretann Smith Bustamante, child of God, passed away on January 12, 2019 at the age of 81. She was an El Paso resident for 55 years.
She was born in Pratt, Kansas to Bernie and Margaret Smith and moved to Texas in 1941.
She graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor, with a degree in Nursing and served in the Army Nurse Corp, both Active duty and Reserves.
After completing her military service, she was hired by El Paso Independent School District as a school nurse, then earned her teaching certificate and taught kindergarten and home hospital.
For 19 years she volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America as a Nationally Certified Trainer of Facilitators and Unit Cookie Pantry coordinator.
She volunteered 3 decades of nursing skill to the El Paso Baptist Clinic
She also served on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Westside Library Bookstore, The Bookmark.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband Louis Bustamante and is survived by her daughter Theresa Bustamante Wagaman, grandson Nathan, granddaughter Natalie and her sisters Elizabeth, Mary Alma, and Catherine.
Margaretann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, Army veteran, nurse and teacher. She had a great love for the written word, crisp mornings on her porch swing and enjoyed the beautiful West Texas sunsets.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10am at the Church of St. Clement, Mckey Chapel, 810 N Campbell Street.
