Maria del Refugio (Macias) Deitchman, 77, passed away into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and rejoined her beloved husband Irvin Deitchman in heaven on April 12, 2018. Maria, born on July 4, 1940, is survived by her children: Jerry Michael Deitchman, Sr., Arleen Anna Deitchman (deceased), David Roy Deitchman, Sr., daughter-in-law Diana Deitchman, Martha Dian Deitchman, Danny Deitchman, Sr., daughter-in-law Berenice Deitchman, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Maria was born in Juarez, Mexico to parents Josephina (Diaz) Macias and Fulgencio Macias. She was one of eight children. Maria took pride in being a homemaker, as well as hard worker outside of the home. Maria worked as a seamstress, and in a factory. But perhaps her greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren. Maria strove to provide an example of hard work, dedication, and love.
Among the many things that she loved, Maria had a special love of elephants, mariachi music, novellas, and traveling. She adored cooking – especially for holidays and special events. But she also found pleasure in “las maquinitas,” as well as the Dallas Cowboys. She was devout in her faith and volunteered at the church. She had a terrific sense of humor and loved to tell stories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Public Visitation for Maria will be held on April 19th between 5-9 p.m. at the Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, with Vigil/Rosary services from 7-7:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on April 20 from 10-10:45 a.m., with Committal Service being held at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 11 a.m.
