MaryAnn Winstead, lifelong resident of El Paso, died at home surrounded by family, on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the age of 90. She was a loving wife and exemplary mother to 9 children; grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Aloysius Peter Brusoe† and Sue Marie Price Brusoe†, her husband C.E. (Curley) Winstead†, and son Richard† (Mary), and her sister Pauline Yerby†. She has one surviving sister Betsy Brusoe Kuchar (Surprise, AZ). She is survived by her children; Russell Winstead (Sue), Michael Winstead (Elizabeth), Jill Winstead, Janet Winstead (Medeni), Robin Vinson, James Winstead (Tammy), John Winstead (Karen), and Betsy Pena (Robert†). She is survived by 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. MaryAnn was “Canasta (and Scrabble) Queen” of her family; she loved gardening and could make anything grow in the desert and gardens of her beloved homes. She devoted countless hours to support and welcome numerous friends and children to the Winstead family. She was a tremendously intelligent, motivated hard worker who was known as an excellent medical transcriptionist. Her work ethic and indefatigable high standards propelled her to start her own successful business, Southwest Transcription Service, 1985-2003, employing and later training many of the best transcriptionists in the Southwest. Her life was centered around family and faith. She was a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Church and St. Matthew Church. Funeral services will be at Concordia Cemetery with a memorial service and celebration of MaryAnn’s life to be held at a later date. The Winstead family thanks her doctors and Tender Care for their wonderful care and a special thanks to our sister Betsy for the loving care she gave mom in her last years. The family also wishes to thank Dan Vinson for all his help and support. In honor of MaryAnn’s lifelong support of children, donations may be made to Annunciation House or Lee and Beulah Moor Children’s Home. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West .
