Nancy Lea Frechin Nichols

July 5, 1948 — November 9, 2021

Nancy Lea Frechin Nichols passed away on Tuesday November 9, 2021, she was 73 years old. Nancy was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1948. Her family moved to El Paso when she was still in elementary school. Nancy graduated Salutatorian from Irvin High School in 1966. In 1968 Nancy married Jimmie Nichols who was serving in the army as a medic and was stationed at Fort Bliss. Nancy graduated from UTEP in 1973 with a degree in education and a minor in mathematics. She taught at a private school for 2 years and then she taught at Lee Elementary in EPISD for 20 years before retiring in 2005. She was a breast cancer survivor. She continued to teach though that time and took care of Jimmie as he also battled cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie and is survived by her sons, Jimmy (Bonnie), Joseph (Cortney), and Joshua (Josephine). She had 3 grandchildren, Auriel, Audrey, and Aiden, 3 step grandchildren Ezekiel, Ian, Jolyne, and Juan Marcos and numerous surrogate children and grandchildren. She was everyone’s Mom and Grandma and loved having everyone over in her home. She loved crocheting and made shawls and purses, many of which she designed herself. She made toys for her children and grandchildren and matching Christmas stockings for the entire family. She was a very strong Christian woman, a faithful partner in prayer, and fierce friend in life. We love her so much and she is sorely missed. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to her church, St Francis on the Hill Episcopal Church or her favorite charity, The Salvation Army. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Funeral Service at 7:00pm on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.
