Oscar James Cooper, beloved U. S. Army veteran, loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather, was called home November 6, 2020. Born on August 2, 1940 in Kennedy, Alabama to James and Bessie Mae Cooper. Oscar joined the armed forces at a young age, living in several countries and states including Germany, Hawaii, Virginia Colorado, and finally Texas. Oscar, a Vietnam and Korean War veteran, loved his family, music, fishing and baseball. He made the community of El Paso his final home where he raised his family and retired from the U.S. Army as well from Groendyke Transportation. Mr. Cooper was a member of the Veterans Association where he was known as "Boots". He was preceded in death by his mother, Father, and daughter Dolores Estorga(Cooper). He is survived by his loving wife Josefina Cooper, daughters Margarita, Elma, Yvonne, sons Lakendrick, Oscar James Jr., Steven, Michael and Anthony, sister Catha Mae, brother Paul, grandchildren: Nathaniel and Nick Foreman, Michael, Tristan, Hannah, Jeremiah, and Elijah Cooper, Ensley and Eli Cooper, Kenan and Kylie Cooper, Carlos and Erik, Gino, Michelle and Stephanie, Haven, Patrice, Stephan, Damien and Andrew, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held on Monday, November 16 from 1-4pm at Sunset funeral home (Northeast), burial will take place on November 17 at Ft. Bliss Cemetery with military honors.
