Renate St.Clair Parsons, 90, was born on June 12, 1927 in Bad Sooden Allendorf, Germany to Emil Theodor Reutermann and Anna Marie Elise Scharf, passed away peacefully September 15, 2017 at her home in El Paso, TX. Renate and her late husband Paul have resided in Northeast El Paso for over 50 years where she was a charter member of both St. John’s Lutheran Church and New Hope Lutheran Church.
Renate married in Germany where she had her first son Michael in 1952 and emigrated to the United States as an Army wife in 1954. She received her United States citizenship in New York and moved around the country having Kenneth in Wisconsin and Lisa in Minnesota before settling in El Paso, TX. After raising her children, she went to work for Liberty House, which became Joske’s at the Cielo Vista Mall. Having a natural knack for salesmanship and helping people, she consistently became a top sales producer and it was said that, “She could sell snow to Eskimos!”
She was never one to slow down and after retiring from Joske’s, she became actively involved with numerous social, civic and service organizations. She was a very proud Gold Star Wife, and a dedicated member of the following organizations: Society of Military Widows, Germania Club, Chamber of Commerce Women’s Club, Red Hat Belles, AARP, National Association of Uniformed Services, and the Northeast Association.
After Paul’s passing in 2010, she remained active by hosting luncheons, baking wonderful goodies, maintaining her house, and taking trips and cruises with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Anna Marie, her husband Paul B Parsons Sr., her eldest son Michael Roy St.Clair, and her sisters in Germany, Herta and Annalisa. She is survived by her two sisters in Germany, Ulla and Jutta, her son Kenneth St.Clair and wife Michele of Carlsbad, CA, daughter Lisa and husband Mark Harder of El Paso, TX, her grandchildren Christina, Rachel, Jennifer, Allison and Nathan, and her great grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, and Christopher.
Although she can’t be with us, everyone knows that she is enjoying herself at the big buffet in the sky! Renate will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
