Richard Aguirre

Richard Barrera Aguirre, 55, went home to his heavenly father on November 9, 2018. Richard was born in Abilene, TX on December 30, 1962. He played football from 5th grade through college where he was All American. He graduated from Abilene High School and then went on to McMurry College where he graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. McMurry is where he met the love of his life, Shari. Richard was a coach and teacher beginning at Franklin Middle School in Abilene, TX. He coached and taught there for 11 years. He then coached and taught here in El Paso at H.E. Charles Middle School and Terrace Hills Middle School. He retired this year after 33 years of coaching and teaching. He loved going shopping (didn’t matter where), watching one of his many movies at home, or going to the movie theater, and most of all seeking out and getting photos with celebrities. He was the ultimate gift-giver and little did he know he was the best gift of all. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Lucia Aguirre and his sister Rachel Moncibais. He leaves behind his wife of 33 years Shari Lee Aguirre, daughters; Candace Lee Gonzalez (Jonathan) and Madeline Ricarda Aguirre, sisters; Zulema Santiago, Elsa Rivas (Manuel), brothers; Ruben Aguirre, Gilbert Aguirre (Dominique), and David Aguirre (Carmen), his Tia Chana Burkett, Tio Martin Barrera, his in-laws; Roger and Beulah Taggart, Bonnie and Steve Weber, and Brian Taggart, and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. A Funeral Service will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Trinity First United Methodist Church, 801 N. Mesa. Followed by a Committal Service at 11:30 AM on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Restlawn Memorial Park, 4848 Alps. All services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast 4631 Hondo Pass.
