Richard E. Concha

LTC Richard E. Concha US Army (Retired), passed away on January 6, 2021. Born in El Paso on January 7, 1934. He graduated from St. Patrick’s Parochial School and El Paso High. While on active duty, he received his B.A. from St. Martin’s College, Olympia, WA, his M.A. from The University of Oklahoma at Norman, and after retirement a B.S. from Park College. He enlisted in the Army Paratroopers in 1953, and completed jump school at FT. Benning, GA. He progressed through the enlisted ranks to platoon Sergeant E-7, then graduated from the Infantry officer candidate school at Ft. Benning, GA in 1960. He graduated from the Adjutant General advance course, the Army Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, KA, and the National Security Management Course in Washington, DC. Colonel Concha retired from the Army in December in 1979 with over 26 years of service. He continued serving the Army as a Department of Army Civilian for 11 more years. His Military award and decorations include the Bronze Star and Air Medal during the 18 months duty in Vietnam. The Meritorious Service Medal w/1 OLC, Army Commendation Medal w/1 OLC, The Parachutist Badge and other service awards. Colonel Concha is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Linda Rivas, son Jim Concha and granddaughter Taylor Ann. Great grandchildren, Aksel, Roczen, Summer and Greyson of Denver Colorado.
