Setoa Misi Teo

Setoa Misi Mata’utia Te’o, 62, passed away on July 31, 2018. He was born in Moata’a, Samoa, on February 18, 1956. He attended Mapusaga High School (in American Samoa) until its closing in 1974 then attended and graduated from Samoana High School the following year. Setoa enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served our country until his retirement in 1994. He was stationed overseas for most of his career. Those duty stations included Germany ( 3 tours). Korea (1 tour) and Southwest Asia (Turkey and Northern Iraq) during Operation Provide Comfort. He earned several medals and awards while in the Army, including the Southwest Asia Service Medal. Setoa worked for Army Broadcasting Service (AFRTS/ AFN) for several years after his retirement from the Army in the Washington, DC metroplex. He proudly earned his Bachelor’s degree from Park University in 2012. Setoa is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jean Pritchard- Te’o and his son Alex Te’o; along with sisters Fa’anati Penitusi, Feleni Schuster, and Fa’atalivale Lewis; and brothers Luteru Te’o, Ta’afili Te’o, Pa’u Pa’u Misi, and Alfred Lei’a Te’o. He also leaves behind several cousins, aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Setoa was preceded in death by his parents, Misi Te’o and Siafiafi Tini- Te’o. Setoa will always be remembered for his caring personality, contagious smile and his love for his family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Interment will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
