Stanley Howard Gilchrest

August 14, 1947 — September 22, 2021

Stanley H. Gilchrest passed away Wednesday September 22, in El Paso, TX with his family at his side after a brave battle with Parkinson's. Stan was born in Memphis, TX to the late Howard and Jean Gilchrest. He always referred to himself as a "road scholar", as he was educated in different places but was always on the road home to El Paso to visit his future wife, Sulyn. Stan worked for Mutual of Omaha for over 50 years doing what he loved most, working with people. Stan had a quick wit, a kind and accepting nature, and an easy going personality that always put those around him at ease. He could make anyone laugh and his friends are quick to have funny and endearing stories to share about him. Bowlero was Stan's 2nd home, where he bowled a 300 almost every decade of his life. He loved clean "and fast" cars, Mexican food, cherry-vanilla Dr. Peppers, and bought polo shirts every chance he got. He leaves behind Sulyn, his wife of over 50 years; daughter Traci (Ben); sisters Linda and Marcia; dear friends Don and Heather; many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Stanley; and of course his beloved rescue Trixi. A forthcoming "celebration of life" event will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations to: Sun City Parkinson's Foundation 10950 Pellicano, Suite B-2, El Paso, TX 79935 Or Animal Rescue League of El Paso P.O. Box 13055, El Paso, TX 79913. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Stanley Howard Gilchrest please visit our Sympathy Store.
