On September 23rd, 2020, at the age of 63, Retired US Army Sergeant First Class William A. Chasten Jr. departed from us to be our heavenly father. He left behind his loving wife Erlinda Nunez Chasten, his mother Ann L. Verdugo, his father William A. Chasten Sr., his sister Barbra J. Foust, his brother Perry L. Chasten, his three children William A. Rubalcava, Ann L. Chasten, and Mary Maestas-Ramirez, 13 grandchildren and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his older brother John Jay Cherry. William A. Chasten Jr. was born on November 17th, 1956 in Brooklyn, NY. In 1957, The Chasten Family was transferred and stationed at Fort Bliss Army Base in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Bel Air High School in 1974. During his high school years he was an active member of JROTC. After high school, William decided to serve his country and joined the Army. He worked as a tank mechanic and experienced many tours overseas. During his 20 years of military service he was awarded 7 Medals for his Service Achievements, 3 Army Commendation Medals, 5 Army Good Conduct Medals and a Meritorious Service Medal. William was honorably discharged from the Army in 1998. He was a loving husband, son, father and brother. He will be greatly missed.
