Aleyah Jorden Garnett, 21, passed away on December 20, 2025.
Aleyah was known for her loving heart, gentle spirit, and the joy she brought into every room. She had a way of making others feel seen, valued, and deeply cared for.
She graduated from Burges High School in 2022. She was part of the Amici dance team where she blossomed from a shy freshman to and outgoing and confident senior captain. She had the dream of becoming a teacher, so she perused her education at the University of Texas at El Paso. This is where she found her sisterhood Zeta Tau Alpha. Here she formed relationships that changed her life forever. She was soon to graduate with her bachelor’s degree.
Aleyah was not only a brilliant student, but she was a loving daughter, sister, niece and friend. She always put her family first …as long as she wasn’t hungry. “Pain Killers” from Cheddars and wings were her true loves. If you knew Aleyah, you knew she loved her food…we won’t mention the nickname but if you know you know. She loved to travel. If it was just to the mall to shop or road trip to Disneyland, you never knew what her next adventure was.
The most important person in her life was her mom, Amy. Aleyah loved her mom more than anything in the world. Their bond was something that no one could break.
Aleyah is preceded in death by her sister, Nicole Alisa Dueñas, her grandma, Nancy Marlene Romero, and grandpa, Leroy Romero. We know they welcomed her into heaven with open arms.
She is survived by her mother, Amy Romero, her father, Troy Garnett, sister, Meyah Garnett, and uncle, Matthew Romero (Dorothy).
