Alice Rosalee Allen

October 31, 1911 — October 18, 2013

ALICE ROSALEE ALLEN passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the age of 101. Rosalee was born in Simonton, TX to Charles and Ethel Johnson. She graduated from Richmond High School and earned her teaching certificate from Southwest Texas State College. She met and married Richard "Dick" Allen and they raised three children. In addition to raising her children, Rosalee was a school teacher, owned a daycare, was a bookkeeper and was a cafeteria manager for two schools before retiring. She and Dick enjoyed retirement by traveling in their camper and visiting family and friends. For many years, she was active in her church, Hillcrest Baptist, and treasured the friendships formed there. Rosalee is preceded in death by her husband, Dick and her sisters, Eleanor and Hortense. Left behind to honor her memory are her children: Charles (Barbara) Allen, AliceLee (Carl) Glaser, and Richard (Glynna) Allen, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In Rosalee's memory, contributions can be made to charlieslunch.com, a Christian children's ministry that she supported. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 12:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home West, officiated by Pastor Eddie Lee. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery. The family acknowledges with deep appreciation the many comforting prayers and expressions of kindness and are very thankful for the loving care provided by Lulu Carrasco.
