Allen Duane Phillips, 84, of El Paso, Tx and formerly of Southington, OH passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024.
He was born on January 25, 1940 in Warren, Oh., a son of the late Bernard J. Phillips and the late Emma Heckathorn Phillips.
He was a 1958 graduate of Chalker HS. He attended Austin Peabody in Nashville TN and Millsaps College in MS on sports scholarships and later was a graduate of Youngstown State University. He worked as an Engineer for Packard Electric in Warren, and, after moving to El Paso, Texas then retired after 33 years.
On September 8, 1962 Al married Dolores (Min Young) Phillips, who survives, and was married for 62 years.
Al enjoyed being outside and growing a garden and having a curious dog or child by his side. He was a US Army Veteran at Fort Knox Ky in the 60's and played baseball for the army. He was a huge Cleveland "Indians" Guardians, Browns and Cavaliers fan, was instrumental in building ball diamonds at Chalker, President of the School Board and Baseball Organization, coach, and involved in the Trumbull County Midnight Riders 4-H horse club with his sons at the fairgrounds. In El Paso, Al worked at Dos Lagos Golf Course in Anthony, golfed with a group of his favorite people, and enjoyed so much the Golfers' Luncheons every month, the art scene and Paws for Love Therapy Animals.
Al was a kind and gentle man who cared deeply about his sons and their families. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; sons, Randall J. (Lauren) Phillips, Joseph W. (Page) Phillips; Grandchildren, Sarah (Easton) Phillips-Johnson, Zachary, Danny, Austin, Caden, and Tanner Phillips; Step grandchildren, Taylor (Paige) Weigel, Zack (Faith) Freeman, and Madison Freeman; Great Grandchildren, Lyla Phillips Duffney, Sebastian Freeman and baby girl Freeman on the way.
He is survived, also, by his sister, Carol Taylor, sisters-in-law, Peggy Phillips and Sherril Johnson along with several loved nieces and nephews.
Al was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Emma; Brothers, Bernard Jr., Arthur N. and infant, David Phillips.

We will miss Al's witty humor and his special laugh. He was loved. A casual Memorial will be planned for a later date.
