Andrea Alvarado Alcala "Andy"

Andrea Alvarado Alcalá, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, has returned to her heavenly home on September 1, 2026. Andrea leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and a fearlessness that her descendants hope to carry on. Born to Eleuterio and Soledad Alvarado, her story began in Santa Rita, New Mexico, where she helped raise her siblings Elena, Avelina, Ramon, Felix, Lala, Eleuterio, David, and Lorenzo; teaching them to be respectful, resourceful, and “how to road rage” (direct quote from her loving sister Lala). Throughout her life, Andrea was a dedicated worker from her teenage days as a soda fountain girl at Kress, a seamstress at Farah (23 years), a cafeteria worker at El Paso Independent School District (15 years), and the many mornings she dedicated to the paper routes for the El Paso Times (16 years). She was a woman who wore many hats, but none as important as her role as a dedicated wife to Gilbert “Beto” Alcalá and mother to Gilbert (Judy), Ruben, Carlos (Josie), Frank (Diana), Sandra, and David Alcalá. She leaves behind lessons in diligence, determination, and hope; as a young mother of six growing children, she learned to make do with what she had, whether that meant waking up at 3 am to deliver papers, yielding her chile sauce for her famous enchiladas, selling pots of homemade menudo, or hosting backyard carnivals to raise money to support her only daughter's dream of college. Andrea Alcalá was a model woman, unafraid of any storm that came her way; she had a drive and dedication to life that was celebrated alongside her friends and family. This lust for life has been passed down to her grandchildren Erica, Heather, Vernon, Nicole, Jessica, Jennifer, Austin, Ruben, Alex, Joshua, Nicholas, Gloria-Andrea, Ashley, Victoria, Jacob, Christian, Harley, David, Sophia, and Genevieve, and her great-grandchildren Frida, Julietta, and Kal-el.

May Andrea Alvarado Alcalá be remembered as a kind, strong-willed, and passionate woman whose lessons in overcoming hardship and strife be remembered as moments of growth and dedication to a life everlasting.

A Rosary service and viewing will be held at Sunset West Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00 P.M on Tuesday, September 8th. The following afternoon at 1:00 P.M., Mass will be held at Saint Matthew's (400 West Sunset Road), where she spent her final years growing her relationship with God, guided by Monsignor David Fierro. After the conclusion of the Mass, she will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens of the Valley in Sunland Park, NM.
