Anita Mae Walker Haddad, née Allen March 26, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Anita Mae Haddad.
Born to Charles Wesley Allen and Carmeli Guira in El Paso, Texas on March 11, 1939, Anita attended Cooley Elementary school and Ysleta High. Strong and self-sufficient from an early age, she had a hardship driver’s license at 14, and an after-school desk clerk job for the Cortez Hotel at 15. She met and married Harold Walker and had three children (Judith Ann Walker Fourzan, Wade Juira Walker and Johnny Walker) and became a stay-at-home mom. During those years, Anita was a Girl Scout Leader, a room mother many times over, and part of the PTA. She was also a precinct judge for her district for years, and a member both Eastern Star and Rebekah organizations. She made plum jelly from her grandmother’s plum trees for fun and was also an elegant skier, a member of the El Paso Power Boat Club.
When the children were teenagers, she started a professional career at Crinco Investments as a receptionist. There she worked in a number of capacities until she eventually worked with Petro Lube. There she was trained to lube 18-wheelers in order to assess insurance claims against the company. As the liaison between company lawyer and truckers, she became known across America as “Miss Anita.” In her spare time, she supported charity organizations such as Soroptimist's International and the UTEP Women’s Auxiliary.
In her second life, Anita also married Maynard Haddad, and joined St. Clements Episcopal Church in 1978.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Fourzan, and her son, Johnny Walker, grandchildren Jacob and Jaime Fourzan, James Walker, Jessica Fourzan, Jesse and Desiree Walker, Rose and Daniel Sheppard, and Madison Haynes, and great grandchildren Raziel Garcia, Jhonen Walker Garcia, Logan Wade Walker, Isadora Garcia, Gwyneth Walker, Cole Wyatt Walker, Cullen Walker, Townsend Walker, Alberto Perez III, and Lincoln Walker. She has one great-great grandchild, Adelynn Garcia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Maynard Joseph Haddad, her son, Wade Juira Walker, and her granddaughter, Anita Joy Fourzan.
Whether in overalls or an evening dress, Anita was a regal presence that saw challenges as opportunities. Her iron will and determination were clothed in kindness and a genuine belief in modeling her values.
Funeral Services at St. Clements Episcopal Church are currently pending.
