We celebrate the life of Antanishia Kristi Gates Williams, who departed her earthly body into spiritual eternal rest on Friday, October 4, 2024. Surrounded by her loving family during her transition, Antanishia is remembered as a devoted, nurturing, and beloved wife, mother, daughter, sibling, and cherished friend whose kindness, strength, wit, and resolute faith shaped every part of her life, impacting everyone she met.
Born on May 18, 1981, in El Paso, TX, to William Lucus Gates and Anna R. Wright; she was baptized at Bethlehem Temple on Yandell Dr. in 1986, where her faith blossomed and became the foundation of her life. She proudly graduated from Franklin High School in 1999, carrying with her lifelong friendships and treasured memories.
Antanishia had a natural gift for making people feel noticed and genuinely cared for, which she demonstrated in her many years as a dedicated home health care aide. She actively served in several church ministries, including singing in the choir, participating in the dance ministry, and being a member of the Doves ministry at Destiny Church. Her free-spirited nature was reflected in her love for rare and wondrous things, a symbol of her joyful heart. She always had a kind word and a listening ear, offering support with grace and resilience. Her legacy of love and wisdom will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Antanishia is preceded in death by her loving father, William Lucus Gates; her cherished grandmother, Lillie Ruth Sakil; her brother-in-law, Howlett Wayne Strayhorn; and her precious niece, Deseriann Shantell Strayhorn. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, carried forward by her husband, James Joseph Williams; her beautiful children, Siyanne Aaliah Parchment-Williams, Divine Alishia Williams, Devin Christopher Williams, and Zeshawn Messiah Williams; her adored grandson Prince Kaliah Mercy Williams; her loving mother, Anna R. Wright; her dear siblings: Felicia Shanton Payne, Monique Rochell Strayhorn, William L. Gates Jr., and Darline Dominguez. She also cherished and remembered by a host of family and friends. Antanishia’s life was a true testament to the relationship of family and friendship. The family appreciates your love, prayers, and support during this time of sorrow. Your kindness has been a source of strength and comfort.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Homes-West. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Destiny Church, 9615 Dyer Street, 79924 followed by an Interment at 1:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson.
