With heavy hearts, the family of Anthony J. Mendez announces his sudden passing on November 15, 2024. Affectionately known as Tony, he was born on February 8, 1978, in El Paso, Texas, where he grew up and raised his family. A graduate of Austin High School, Tony was a dedicated worker who found joy in traveling for his job and meeting new people. He was cherished by his peers and colleagues and will be remembered as a loving grandfather, father, son, brother, and uncle. Tony's warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Jose Luis Mendez. He leaves behind his mother, Concepcion Mendez; the mother of his children, Esther Cardenas; his sons, Sebastian, Elijah, Angel, and Dustin Mendez; his daughters, Laiza Cardenas and Lindsey Caro; his sister, Christine Mendez and her husband Tyrone; his brother, Matthew Mendez and his wife Marlo; his nieces, Toni Monique, Brianna, Ashley, Alyssa, Margie, Gabby; and his grandchildren, Jeremiah, Josiah, Amelia, Alicia, and Cataleya.
Tony’s spirit and love will be profoundly missed. May his memory bring comfort and inspiration to those he leaves behind.
Anthony Mendez, 46, Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary at 6:00 PM, December 5, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be at 12:45 PM, Friday, December 6, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama. Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
