Antonia Wilkinson

Antonia Achterberg Wilkinson, 73, passed away on Thursday February 1, 2024.

Early Life 

Tonny as she was better known by, was born in Medan on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia on July 12, 1950. She lived there with her older brother Henk and her younger sister Greet and their parents Jan and Wati Achterberg. They moved from Sumatra to the city of Zeist located in the Netherlands in 1955. While living in Zeist, Tonny’s family welcomed three more girls to the family; Jetty, Johanna and Jannie. Tonny loved playing volleyball and was in gymnastics during High School. Tonny later met the love of her life Bill, while he was stationed at Soesterberg Air Force Base, located nearby Zeist in 1968. 

Later Years and Hobbies

 Tonny then immigrated to the United States and married Bill in California in 1971. Tonny and Bill would have two children, Jan and Monique, and would spend the late 70’s and 80’s being stationed in Germany three different times. They would eventually settle down in El Paso Texas in 1989. Tonny worked as a clerk at Circle K for many years before eventually working for Dale Tile, where she retired. Tonny loved to play Bingo, sweepstakes, slot machines and the lottery. She loved to travel and go on motorcycle trips and excursions with their motorcycle club. Tonny loved to play with her grandkids and especially go shopping with her granddaughters. She was her grandkid’s biggest supporter and they brought her much joy and happiness. 

Preceded in Death and Survived By

 Tonny was preceded in death by her parents, Jan and Wati, and her little sister Johanna Achterberg. Tonny leaves behind her husband of almost 53 years Bill Wilkinson, their son Jan and his wife Felicia and their children, Angel, Destinee, Mia, Evan and Xander and their daughter Monique and her husband Brad and her children Kevin and Ava. Tonny also leaves behind her older brother Henk and her younger sisters Greet, Jetty and Jannie.

Visitation: Saturday February 10, 2024, from 10:00am-2:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. El Paso Texas 79924.

Celebration of Life: 12:00pm-1:00pm.
