Antonio Sullivan age 87, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 01, 2024 in El Paso, Texas. He was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, friend and will be dearly missed. Born and raised in El Paso, Antonio joined the US Air Force in 1955. While on leave in El Paso in 1960 before deployment to Thule, Greenland, he met his wife-to-be Olga Rey. Upon his return they were married January 6, 1962 and blessed with two children. He served his country with distinction in the Air Force for twenty years retiring as a MSgt in 1975. Upon retirement from the Air Force Antonio brought his family back to El Paso. He was soon hired at the University of Texas at El Paso as the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor. Antonio worked at the University for over twenty years before retiring in 1999. Throughout his life Antonio was always ready to help others. He loved working with his hands landscaping and gardening, fishing and reading. He instilled in his children the lessons of the benefits of hard work and responsibility.
Antonio is preceded in death by his parents: Ignacio Cecilio Granados and Elisa Ortega, his wife: Olga Rey Sullivan, and his siblings: Betty Cadwell, May Sullivan, Jim Sullivan, and Shirley Richland. He is survived by his children: Anthony Sullivan (Monica Lynn Ortega) and Deborah Sullivan, as well as his siblings: Eddie Sullivan and Helen Allen. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory.
Pallbearers include: Anthony Sullivan, Anthony Boyd, Charles Berry, B. Broderick, James Cordova, and James Erickson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 10:30am to 11:00am, with a Celebration of Life to commence at 11:00am at Ascension Lutheran Church, 6520 Loma De Cristo Dr. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 1:00pm, with Full Air Force Honors.
