ARMANDO F. COBOS

Armando F. Cobos of Fabens, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2016 in El Paso, Texas. He was born in Socorro, Texas on December 7, 1931 to Carlos C. Cobos, Sr. and Elena (Helen) Espalin Cobos.
Armando attended Fabens High School and worked on the family farm in Fabens. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in July 1951 and was stationed in England where he met and married the love of his life, Jean Plitsch Cobos on June 11, 1955.
He worked for Romney Implement Co. a John Deere Dealership in Fabens for over 35 years as the Parts Manager eventually becoming part owner of the Company until his retirement. Armando was not one to sit idle and started a new career at Home Depot in his 70’s working over 10 years and eventually retiring completely.
He is a devout Christian and faithfully served the Lord in many different capacities throughout his life. He was kind, thoughtful and generous. He never met a stranger, when he saw or knew of anyone in need he always gave of himself and his resources. He was beloved by all who knew him and he was a blessing to many. He was a long time active member of the Lions Club which is yet another example of his desire to help people and make the world a better place.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jean Plitsch Cobos, Son Judge David M. Cobos and wife Barbara, Daughters Melissa Jean Panton and husband Michael, Celina Lewis and husband Daryl, Tracy Ann Martin and husband Russell and Sandra Anne Garza. He has 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud. He had numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his sisters, Lillian Sambrano, Nora Varela, Alice Perez and brothers Carlos Cobos, Jr. and Nick Cobos.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Rev. Carlos C. Cobos, Sr. and Elena E. Cobos and his grandson, Joshua Cobos.
A Commital Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12th, 2016 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso. His brother, Carlos Cobos, Jr. will officiate. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas.
