El Paso, Texas. Arturo Casillas died on January 20, 2007. He was born on October 21, 1929, in East Chicago, Indiana and grew up in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico, were most of his close family still lives. In Torreón, Arturo met and married Rosa Cantu, his wife of over 50 years; they had two sons, Arturo and Carlos. Then life took him to Chicago where he worked all of his able years. After retirement, Arturo spent most of his time in Torreón with family and friends, until he relocated and lived his most recent years in El Paso, Texas. Arturo was passionate about knowledge, an avid reader and book collector, he always had a story to share. He took pleasure in discussions about politics and economics, and was never opposed to enjoying a long and controversial conversation with anyone who cared to listen. Arturo is survived by his mother, Celia Valdez de Casillas, his wife, Rosa Cantu de Casillas, his son Arturo and wife Rosario, his son Carlos and wife Gabriela, and his grandchildren; Edgar, Arturo, Diego, Giselle and Mauricio. Additionally, Arturo is survived by his sisters: Olga, Gloria, Velia and Hilda. Agradecemos a todos nuestros familiares y amigos por externarnos sus sinceras condolencias. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm, Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
