Arturo Reyes

Our heavenly Father called Arturo Reyes on Thursday, August 29, 2013 after his two year battle with cancer at the age of 82. He was born in San Antonio Texas to Manuel and Mary T. Reyes on December 26, 1930. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Arturo proudly served in the United States Army for 24 years and is a Korean War veteran. Shortly following his retirement as a Sergeant First Class he successfully ran his own business for 34 years. He found great joy being an active volunteer at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Saint Anthony’s Seminary. Throughout his life, he taught us to be strong, work hard and have faith in the Lord above. He always encouraged those close to his heart to follow their dreams. “You can do anything as long as you set your mind to it,” is one of the words of wisdom he shared. Arturo is survived by his loving wife, Elena A. Reyes of 34 years and children Arturo Jr., wife Pat; Richard, wife Tricia; Jerry; Mary Jane; David, wife Pat; Frank, wife Tami; Carol Weathers, husband John; Rosie Pena; Raymundo Pena, wife Blanca; Mary Reyes Sanchez, husband Abel; 25 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. You will always be in our hearts. We love you Dad! Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00pm, with a Rosary to begin at 7:00pm, Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral Mass will start at 9:30am, Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
