In Loving Memory of Atilano Cereceres

June 18,1931 – June 25, 2026

With love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Atilano Cereceres, best known as "Papa Atilano" who peacefully fell asleep in death on June 25, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born on June 18, 1931, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Atilano Cereceres and Dolores Muela.

“Papa Atilano” is preceded in death by his parents: Atilano and Dolores Cereceres and wife: Enriqueta Cereceres.

He is survived by his children: Francisco Chacon (Beatriz), Wenseslao Chacon (Molly), Marina Chacon, Bernardo Cereceres (Isabel), Enriqueta Ortiz, Ana Maria Lopez (Juan), 20 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory.

“Papa Atilano” was a man of deep faith, strong values, and a remarkable work ethic. He worked at Peyton Meat Market and later as a pipe fitter with T & O Kelly, always taking pride in providing for his family through honest work. As a child, through his grandma and father, he was taught how to care for many farm animals. He also learned how to make cheese, asaderos, and delicious food like the best menudo, barcacoa.

He was known for his old-fashioned values, his strong character in the best sense of the word-honest, disciplined, and devoted to doing what he believed was right. Although, he was not always one to express his feelings with words, those who knew him understood that his love was shown through his guidance, and lifelong dedication to his family.

He shared his life with his beloved wife, Enriqueta Cereceres, until her passing on January 16, 2005. Together they built a family grounded in love, faith, and hard work.

“Papa Atilano” also enjoyed beekeeping, a hobby he loved and found peace and happiness caring for his bees and admired the beauty, order, and wisdom found in Jehovah’s creation. He loved sharing what he learned and took pride in the work of his hands. Above all, he loved Jehovah and found comfort in the Bible's promise of the resurrection.

Though we deeply miss him, we find comfort in the promise found at John 5:28, 29, when those in the memorial tombs “will hear his voice and come out.”

“Papa Atilano’s” legacy of faith, hard work, strength, and love for his family will live on in all who knew him. He will forever be remembered, deeply missed, until we see him again.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Atilano Cereceres will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 826 Holmsley Trail, El Paso, TX 79907.
