Augustin Silvas Garcia was born on May 28th 1932 and passed away on March 7th 2015. He is preceded in death by his father Tiburcio Garcia, mother Merced Garcia, brothers Ysidro and Guadalupe Garcia, and Sisters: Elvira and Esperanza Garcia. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Salome Garcia, his only son Edward Garcia, daughter- in- law Angela Crawford Garcia, granddaughter Adria Skye Garcia, brother Ezequiel Garcia, and sister Carmen Garcia. He grew up in the small Texas town of Marathon. There he played High School football and was known in the area as “Tank”. He proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was in the reserves afterward. After the war he started his career as a meat cutter. In 1972 he opened his own business, Coronado Prime Meats, where he worked until he was no longer able to. He loved his job and would have worked up until the end if he could have. He was a people person and was always joking around. He was a devoted husband and exemplary father. He touched the lives of many with kind heart and generosity. He will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home-West. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N. Resler Dr., El Paso, Texas 79912. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations to any Parkinson’s disease Charities will be greatly appreciated. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
