Austin Pomeroy Gaylord

Austin Pomeroy Gaylord was born to Austin C. and Genevieve Gaylord in Pittsfield, MA on September 17, 1931. He passed peacefully from this life to join his beloved wife, Marlene, on August 26, 2014. Austin loved meeting people and visiting with them. He worked in sales for many years, but his true passion was square dance calling which he did for many years all over the East Coast. In the mid-80’s he and Marlene relocated from Massachusetts to the Southwest, spending many happy years in Tucson and El Paso. They also traveled extensively in their RV after retirement golfing and visiting friends and relatives all over the United States. Left to cherish his memory are his brother Phil (Brenda) of Bradenton, FL, his brother Steve (Patty) of Myrtle Beach, SC, his daughter, Susan (Charles) of El Paso, TX, three granddaughters, Katherine Telehany, Jamie Delaney, and Melanie Williamson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends near and far. The family wishes to thank the staffs of White Acres Assisted Living, Voiland Foster Home, and Hospice of El Paso, particularly his hospice nurse Catie Rice, for their care and concern in his final months. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on September 3, 2014 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Sunset Funeral Home- West. Funeral services will be held on September 4, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 7050 McNutt Rd., La Union, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Rescue League of El Paso, 7256 La Junta Dr., Canutillo, TX or Hospice of El Paso, 1440 Miracle Way, El Paso, TX.
