Barbara Jean Anderson

Barbara J. Mick Anderson “Jean” – 85 – passed away peacefully on March 6, 2016 following a lengthy illness. She was born September 9, 1930 to Mary H. Mick Anderson and Ralph C. Mick in Weston, WV. Her late husband’s employment brought the family from Pennsylvania to El Paso in 1956. Jean contributed to everyone’s life before she satisfied her own needs. She gave of herself to every family member without reservation or doubt. She enjoyed life with her husband, Jim, and rejoiced in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her numerous nieces and nephews. Her cooking always brought smiles to everyone’s face with a “Can I have seconds, please?” She was a truly remarkable woman in her own right. She will be truly missed by us all. Although she has left us, we are reassured that in the hereafter she will be waiting for us with her sweet smile and a question . . . ‘Are you hungry?’ She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sisters, Judith Skeen and Lucile Ward; brother, Frank Mick, and by great grandson, Jason Tyler Newling. She is survived by her son, Aaron D. Anderson and wife, Dawn of San Leon, TX; daughter, Debra Pokluda and husband, Vince of El Paso, TX; daughter, Patricia Richardson of Grapeland, TX and by her sisters, Susan Frey of Albemarle, NC and Pamela Mick of Grafton, WV and brothers, Bill Mick and John Mick of Grafton, WV. There are 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews to carry on her loving nature and goodwill. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Barbara Reeves and all of the amazing Nurses and staff of Hospice El Paso for their remarkable care and compassion during her journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice El Paso, 1440 Miracle Way, El Paso, TX 79925 or to the Alzheimer’s Association. Visitation will be Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home West, 480 N. Resler, El Paso; Funeral Service will be at Sunset Funeral Home West on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 12:00 Noon with burial immediately following at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery where she will be reunited in eternity with her loving husband of 56 years.
