Barbara Anne Butler nee Jackson 3/3/41-6/16/2025 84 years old. Mom is now with the love of her life, Harry, his passing just recently in February. Waiting for her were her parents Hershel Sr. and Dorothy Jackson (Smitherman), brother Hershel Jr., and brother David, whom she never met. What a glorious meeting in heaven! Mom and Dad had such a beautiful love story, one that would make you cry if it was a movie. They were married for almost 59 years. They moved to Chaparral NM 55 years ago, had a street named after them, helped name Chaparral, helped start and run the volunteer fire department, raised animals, and raised 4 successful children whom they loved dearly. Mom never missed an opportunity to tell the story of the first all women volunteer fire department in the nation, even being interviewed for the El Paso Times. Mom had a very giving heart, sometimes to her family's moans and groans, but she didn't care. She was happiest giving, if it was a dollar, she was going to give it to someone that needed it more than her. Thank you for that mom, you instilled that in me. Mom always had a joke, and a story! Oh gosh, the stories! Mom couldn't remember our names sometimes, but she remembered things about her childhood, her growing up as a policeman's daughter, running the streets with her many cousins. She graduated from Ysleta High School where she was a majorette, always an Indian. She loved to show off her skills with a baton and her high kick! Mom and Dad raised us on a small farm, taking us to 4H, rodeos, took us to church where she sang in the choir and many other beautiful experiences, including her amazing annual 4th of July parties. Mom worked as a telephone operator which was perfect for Mom because she loved to talk. We all know that. Mom was a celebrity for modeling at huge shows for the bariatric surgery department, and even appearing in television commercials. She worked for Billy the Kid clothing company, was the Area Manager at the Popular, sold Avon, worked as a substitute teacher and drove a school bus. Mom helped her late sister-in-law Alberta in growing the BEST home health agency El Paso ever will have. In her later years, Mom worked in customer service from home. Mom had fond memories from all of her past jobs, but her most favorite job was being a grandma and Great Grandma. She would have us belly laughing at the stories she told of Coco, Bj and Cameron at the cabin, and even a video of her almost losing Alex in the stroller down a hill in Cloudcroft. Mom taught us how to do donuts in parking lots, told the best jokes and had a larger-than-life laugh. Mom loved the desert and the mountains. She spent a lot of time at the family cabin with the kids. At the age of 80, she took a leap of faith, and did a zipline with Emily while visiting Ruidoso. Left to miss her are her children and grandchildren, James (Shirley, Philip, Zach and family), Terri (Wally and family), Brian (Sandra, Nicole (Terrill), Brian Jr. (Jodie), and Dottie (Manny, Cameron (Magdalena) and Alexandra, (Erick). She is also survived by her sister Lynda Monroe (James 1/25), and Dad's brother Robert Butler. Great Grandchildren Chloe, Emily, Vivienne, Aubrey, Malana, Kelsey, Willow, Brian, Blaine, Maddison, Sophie, Maddox and Jonah. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and many cousins; she loved you all dearly. We want to thank all that have called or messaged, our neighbors that visited Mom, Erica her Nurse, and Lori, Gentiva Hospice in Las Cruces, her caregiver's Yoli and Carlos, Pedro Natividad for taking care of my parents for so many years, Maggie for being there to help with caring for Mom and Dad, and her precious family. Speaking with Chaplain John from Hospice, he says Mom relayed to him that she was ready, she knew that she was going to meet her Heavenly Father, for us to be comforted that she knew what was to come. She was strong till the end. Mom has always talked about the day she will see Jesus.
Mom, you are home!
