Barbara Ettinger

Barbara Goodman Ettinger died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on November 10, 2021. She was born on August 21, 1927, to Fanny Sattinger and Isedore B. Goodman in El Paso, Texas. She attended Dudley Elementary School and El Paso High School. After high school she attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts where she received her BA in 1948. Returning to El Paso after college she met the love of her life Gershon Ettinger from Tel Aviv, Israel and Houston, TX while he was visiting on business. They married in 1950 and had two children. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and her siblings Haskell M. Goodman and Dorothy G. Marshall (Richard). Barbara is survived by her children Dorlee E. Henderson (Tom) and Hal Ettinger (Linda), her grandchildren Nathan Henderson (Audra), Joel Henderson, Abraham Ettinger and Benjamin Ettinger and her great-granddaughter Ivy Alexandra. Barbara who was a member of Temple Mt. Sinai and Congregation B’nai Zion was active in various civic, educational, and religious charitable organizations and she worked with Gershon in the family business Regal Supply and Chemical. Barbara’s family wants to thank her team from Envision Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided during her final months. Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at B’nai Zion Cemetery, 3915 Gateway West. In lieu of flowers you may donate to a charity meaningful to you.
