Barbara Ann Litchfield

She had passed on her own terms, as she had always wanted. Not in some putrid smelling old folks home, or clinical hospital, but in her own home. In her own bed. In the middle of the night. Peacefully. She had remained amazingly active, going to her gym 3 times a week to work out with her trainer, up until she went into the hospital this last time. She had recently gotten out, and we thought she was slowly mending. She grew up on a ranch between Roswell and Lovington, NM and later went on to the University of New Mexico, where she became Miss UNM, and married Don Litchfield of Melrose, NM. She stayed married to Don, through thick and thin for 57 years. Together, they built a major insurance business, Litchfield Special Risks, into a company that was active in three Western states. They eventually sold the company and traveled the world together. Barbara Ann (Williams) Litchfield, 82, was found sleeping the eternal sleep in her own bed on Thursday, September 26th, in El Paso, TX. RIP. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis (Litchfield) Lewis of Escondido, CA, son Jeff Litchfield of El Paso, TX, and daughter Kay (Litchfield) Glancey of El Paso, TX, and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Western Hills United Methodist Church at 524 Thunderbird Dr. at 10 a.m., Friday October 18th. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home West.
