Barbara Dell Roper
Barbara Dell Roper went to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 22, 2012. She was 76. She was born to Lewis and Mattie Rea in Philadelphia, Mississippi. She met her future husband of 57 years in the 1st grade. They married in 1955 and eventually moved to El Paso.
She loved substitute teaching. She was an excellent seamstress-sewing everything from wedding dresses to suits to Halloween costumes for her grandkids. She was very artistic-she loved to paint Mississippi Magnolias. She loved working daily on The New York Times Crossword Puzzles with one of her sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Roper and her four children: Robin Owen (Kenneth) of El Paso, Ginny Sutton (Chris) of Lubbock, TX, Rex Roper (Kim) of Waco, TX, and Todd Roper (Sharon) of Waco, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Brooke of El Paso, Josh & Jake of Lubbock, Kaci & Kyle of Waco, Alyssa of Colorado, and great-grandchild Jalynn of Marble Falls. Other survivors include her sisters Eloise, Joyce and Beverly.
The family would like to thank Dr. Martha Manquero-Butler and the staff at The MonteVista for all their love, care and support.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N. Resler. Please visit our online register book at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
