08/23/1946 - 08/08/2015
Bertha A. Alvidrez, 68, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Bertha was a Jefferson High School Fox and a longtime bookkeeper at Khan's Bakery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Lilia Aguilar, her brother Felipe Aguilar II, her daughter Lily Alvidrez and her granddaughters Gabrielle Faith and Anahi Hope. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 49 years, Jose Luis Alvidrez, daughter Debi Alvidrez, grandchildren; Zachary, Celest, Austin, Geri, and Lilian, her sisters Carmen Morales (Luis) and Anita Ontiveros (Jose), mother-in-law Refugio T. Cooper, in-laws; Roberto Alvidrez (Celia), Armando Alvidrez (Candy), Cecilia Sotelo, Ricardo Alvidrez (Hilda) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bertha was known for welcoming everyone into her home and not allowing them to leave without a full stomach and words of wisdom and encouragement. Birdie's sense of humor constantly had family and friends in tears. Her thunderous laugh was infectious. Bertha's booming voice and bear hugs were the best part of any family gathering. Bertha was very charitable. Her smile would brighten the darkest rooms. She was always ready to talk about her many life adventures. Bertha was a pillar of strength for her family.
Grandma Bertha loved visiting the zoo and talking to the animals with her children and grandchildren. You could often find her dancing with her grandchildren in the rain. She enjoyed singing "Que Sera, Sera", or any other song her colorful imagination could come up with. She was an independent out-of-the-box thinker. To her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Bertha was a role model. She will be missed.
Grandma Bertha, "We love you more"
