Obituary: Bertha Del Socorro Luna Herrera Buchanan In the early hours of June 29th, 2016, Bertha Del Socorro Luna Herrera Buchanan passed peacefully from this life into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born in Crisotil, Arizona on April 12, 1929, Bertha was loved deeply by everyone she encountered, but none more than her husband of 64 years, Jim. At her passing, Bertha had lived 87 full years of love, dance, laughter, and prayer. As a wife, mother, sister, daughter, Tiá, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bertha remained faithful and constant to all she knew. A devout Catholic, she prayed daily for family, friends, and the church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eulice Lee “Jim” Buchanan; her father and mother, Emilio & Luz Maria Luna Herrera Buchanan; and her brother Luis Emilio Luna Herrera. She is survived by her siblings: Rosa Emma Luna Herrera Caps, Martha Isela Luna Herrera Elias, and Guillermo Luna Herrera; four children: Yvonne Buchanan, Mary Ann Smith, Barbara Kebschull, and Robert Buchanan; 13 grandchildren: Leslie Buchanan, Joe Buchanan, Jack Worthington, Timothy Galaviz, Jacob Worthington, Robert Galaviz, Gregory Worthington, Thomas Smith, Leah Smith, Matthew Worthington, Jordan Buchanan, Justin Kebschull, and Johnny Buchanan; eight great-grandchildren: Jazmine Buchanan, Ireland Buchanan, Denise Galaviz, Cody Buchanan, Giselle Garibay, Tiana Rodriguez, Jerrid Galaviz, and Julian Smith. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July, 5th, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 6th, 2016 at 10:00AM (pending) at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of El Paso. The Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery where Bertha will lay to rest with her husband, Jim. Services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
