BERTHA CASTRO HAVERCORN, 76, entered into eternal rest on October 2, 2015 in Tempe, AZ. Bertha Castro was born in Superior, AZ on June 25, 1939, the only daughter to Inez Castro. A shy girl she met her eternal love, Robert “Bobby” Anaya Havercorn. On November 17, 1956 they were united in Holy Matrimony at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Superior, AZ. As Army wife and homemaker, Bertha created a warm and inviting home base for her husband and 5 children in Maryland, California, Alaska, and El Paso, TX. Bertha was a tireless homemaker and served as seamstress, crocheter, knitter, home chef, baker, gardener, and aerobics instructor. Bertha and Robert both loved little children and opened their hearts and home to at-risk foster infants and toddlers. She was active in liturgical ministries at Christ the Savior Catholic Church. Bertha is survived by her children: Carmen (John) Croas, Cynthia L. (Anthony) Martinez, Edward (Veronica) Havercorn, Robert S. (Irma) Havercorn, and Felicia (Lorne) Benore; grandchildren: Nathanuel and Matthew Martinez, Yvette Havercorn, Gabriana Mendez, Elicia and Johnathan Benore; sister-in-law Amy Morales; and half-siblings: Juanita V. Martin, Blanca Villareal, Dolores Serrano, and Henry Villareal. She is preceded in death by parents, Inez Castro and Guadalupe Villareal; her husband of 50 years, Robert; and her brother, Joe A. Morales. Visitation will be October 14, 2015 from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm with Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home (Northeast), 4631 Hondo Pass Dr., El Paso, TX, 79904, 915-755-4494.
