Bobby Jack Shirley

Bobby J Shirley, was born July 5,1935 in Cameron, Texas. He passed away in El Paso, Texas on April 13, 2026 at the age of 90. Preceded to God’s mercy by father, Elmer S. Shirley, mother Bessie Shirley, wife Susanne Shirley, and son Michael David.

Bobby met and married Susanne Shirley while stationed in Berlin, Germany in 1964. They were married 57 years until her passing in 2021.

Bobby is survived by son Benjamin J. Shirley, daughter Kathleen M. Novak, grandchildren Emily Beaver, Travis Beaver, and Katie Beaver, and great grandchildren, Nathaniel James Temple, and Noah Benjamin Temple.

Bobby retired a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army after having served 21 years in the Air Force and Army. He completed multiple tours of duty in Vietnam and Korea, receiving numerous distinctions for service.

After retiring from the military, Bobby attended UTEP and earned a Master’s Degree in English. He launched a second career teaching in the El Paso Independent School District.

Bobby’s family takes comfort in knowing he has rejoined his bride of six decades, Susanne Shirley, in heaven.
