Bruce Russell Larson, 82, passed away September 4, 2015 in El Paso, Texas. He was born January 11, 1933 in Spokane, Washington to Russell Jennings Larson and Sigred Roning. He married his high school sweetheart, Phoebe Rae Rimington on May 18, 1951 in Pasco, Washington. He was a devoted member of The Church of Latter- day Saints.
Dad received scholarships in football and boxing. Despite success in amateur boxing, marriage and family were his priority. Following high school he went active duty Army for 31 years. He was stationed in Germany, Georgia, New Jersey, Virginia, Hawaii, Okinawa, Taiwan, California, Washington then settling in Texas. He was a Vietnam combat veteran. He was a systems analyst for logistical support.
After the Army he worked for G.E. and Sunbeam until finally retiring to do what he loved: making furniture, wood working, traveling, fishing, gardening, genealogy research, Encore Westerns and being with family.
Dad has been reunited with his sweetheart Phoebe Rae; his parents; sisters, Violet and Sharon; brother, Kenneth. He is survived by his children: Guy (Billie Kay), Blain (June), Kurtis (Diana), Cindi, Paula and Pam; 12 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, William Lefley; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm-7:30pm Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Visitation will begin 11:00am followed by Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon on Friday, September 11, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hondo Pass. Committal Service will follow at 1:45pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
