With profound love and deep faith, we announce the passing of our beloved Camila Ramos Contreras, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and prayer warrior, who peacefully went home to be with the Lord at the age of 90.
Born in Fabens, Texas, Camila lived a life anchored in faith, devotion to God, and selfless love for others. A devoted Catholic, prayer was not only part of her daily life—it was her ministry. She faithfully prayed for anyone in need and belonged to a Catholic Prayer Ministry, dedicated to praying for the sick. Through her prayers, there were countless miracles and answered prayers, testimonies of God’s grace that strengthened the faith of all who witnessed them. Her family—near and far—was always covered in prayer.
She dedicated 32 years of service as a nurse at R.E. Thomason General Hospital, caring for patients with compassion, dignity, and skill. Nursing was her calling, and she viewed her work as an extension of her faith—serving God by serving others.
Above all else, Camila was an extraordinary and sacrificial mother who lived her life devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As an aunt, she was loving, prayerful, and deeply invested in her extended family, offering guidance, faith, and constant intercession through prayer. Her family was her greatest joy, and her love for them was fierce, constant, and unwavering.
Camila is survived by her only daughter, Veronica Ramirez, whom she loved beyond measure; her son-in-law, Raul Ramirez; her cherished grandchildren:
Raylene Contreras and partner Jessie
Stephen Contreras and wife Sabrinah
Jason “Rae” Ortiz and wife Samantha
Adrienne “Mila” Ortiz
Camila is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren:
Ellie “Tootie”
Caleb “Bubba”
Baby Levi “Punchy”, expected in April
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dionicio and Juanita Ramos;
her brothers, Eduardo “Lalo” Ramos and Ernesto “Neti” Ramos;
her sister, Sebastiana “Sebie” Ramos; and her beloved nephews Lalito, Danny, Ernest, Gabriel and David, and niece Gloria.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, prayer, sacrifice, service, and unconditional love. Though deeply missed, her presence will forever be felt through the prayers she prayed, the miracles God worked through her faith, the lives she touched, and the family she loved so completely.
While our hearts grieve her passing, we rejoice knowing she now rests in eternal peace in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served, hearing the words,
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
