El Paso, TX

Carl Delmont Frede III, age 78, passed away on May 2, 2026.

Carl was born on November 19, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, and later made his home in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Cathedral High School, served honorably in the United States Navy, and was a proud Vietnam War veteran.

After returning from service, Carl settled in El Paso, where he met and married the love of his life, Irene Frede. Together, they built a life centered on family, dedication, and love.

Carl worked in a variety of roles throughout his life, including positions with the Electric Company, IBM, and the EEOC. Through determination and perseverance, he earned his Bachelor’s degree along with two Master’s degrees—all while providing for his family and maintaining a deep, unwavering bond with them.

To say Carl was an amazing man is an understatement. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather. He found joy in spending time with his family, coaching his children’s sports teams, reading, and playing games like “last touch.” He especially loved entertaining those around him with his humor, always bringing laughter into the room. His love for his children and family was unprecedented and evident in everything he did.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen Frede.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irene Frede; his daughters, Thina Booth and Crystal Saenz (husband Danny Saenz); and his son, Carl D. Frede IV (wife Rubi Frede). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Kyle Booth, Miranda Koeneke, Garret Childs, Austin Childs, Jake Childs, Isabella Frede, Carl D. Frede V, and Aleece Frede; as well as two great-grandchildren, Bradley Koeneke and Audrey Teter; and his sisters, Roxanne Evans (husband Chris Evans) and Jeanette Moye.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Homes, 4631 Hondo Pass, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, 1118 N.
