Carlos C. Monedero
Hard working, humorous, and a little stubborn, Carlos C. Monedero passed peacefully on July 19, 2016.
Born on May 29, 1932, in El Paso, Texas, to Aurelia Irigoyen and Gonzalo Monedero, he enjoyed dancing, singing, and acting in school and little theatre productions. Another passion of his was traveling throughout the world experiencing other cultures.
Graduating from El Paso High School in 1950, Carlos served in the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps, from 1951 until 1955. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with honors from Texas Western College in 1958. This was followed in 1960 by a Master of Science in Hospital Administration from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.
During the 1960s, Carlos worked at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, Mercy Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, University of Texas Medical Center in Galveston, Loyola University Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, to finish his public administration career as the owner and administrator of a Convalescent and Nursing Home in the San Francisco area until his retirement. Five years ago, he returned to El Paso to live near family.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and wife, Gonzalo and Rose Monedero. He is survived by his sister, Martha Sawtelle, her sons and their families, and the Monedero, Duran, Guardian and Irigoyen families. Special thanks to all caregivers, who made his last years comfortable, especially the Ontiveros Foster Home and their excellent care.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will be on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
